Birds of Prey: Harley Quinn returns!
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)
Margot Robbie returns as Harley Quinn in the spin off to Suicide Squad. While the film doesn't look like it'll feature Joker or any of the Suicide crew, it'll take place in between the first film and upcoming sequel.
So what's it all about?
Well in the comics of the same name the Birds of Prey (1996) is an all(most) female superhero group. The group rotated a couple of dozen supers but in the 2016 reboot it featured three main gals; Huntress, Batgirl and Black Canary. And these three make up the 'Birds' in the new film.
How does Harley fit in?
The film will follow Harley + gang trying to rescue Cassandra Cain. If you're into your DC Universe you might know her as Cassandra Wayne and eventually one of many young women to take on the role of Batgirl.

Directors Cathy Yan and Christina Hodson (Bumblebee screenwriter) lead the female duo behind the film.
Expect to see a lot more character costume than superhero costume. Harley in particular seems to be in much more playful outfits than we saw in Suicide Squad. And the others are in more realistic crime fighting gear.
Huntress is one of the Birds that made their way from the comic to the big screen in Birds of Prey. A few supers had the name, in one version she was the daughter of Batman and Cat Woman, and in another she was a supervillain.
Huntress' comic get up is a striking purple and black costume, mask, cape and all. The Birds of Prey Huntress dons a slightly less superhero esque outfit, although we do see the on-brand flashes of purple among her black leather pieces.
Black Canary is best known for her black leather leotard and long blonde hair, but in Birds of Prey we're being served a bit more character dimension with a navy suit lined with gold and some stunning braided hair. Black Canary was one of the earliest DC heroines, her hypersonic screams giving her her super status.

But what about Gotham City Sirens?
Since Harley's big screen debut we've wondered if the Gotham girls will be hitting the big screen together (Harley, Poison Ivy and Catwoman). Margot Robbie was in line to take on the role of Executive Producer for the supposed film and Jared Leto was set to reprise his Joker role. Unfortunately director David Ayer gave a very brief announcement that it's 'on pause'. Who knows whether that will kick back off following the release of Birds of Prey or if the pause is a dead end.
